One you hold dear

That I don’t agree with,

My brain, nowhere near

And I ask you a question

Wanting to clarify

Find out where our thoughts miss

And how we can see eye-to-eye

But you don’t have an answer

Giving a generic response

“That’s just how it is”

Your mind ensconced

With an opinion so strong

But reasons so bland

How is it that I’m the one

Who doesn’t understand?

At a friends house

And they have a puppy?

And when you go to leave

It gets a hold of your shoe?

You chase and chase and chase

But it’s fast

And it’s having fun

And the more you chase, the faster it runs

It’s frustrating because

The puppy thinks you’re playing

And there’s no way for you to explain

The concept of time and responsibilities and needing to leave
